Our facility has over 30 pull boxes. I am interested if NFPA or NEC has any mininum set-back from the pull box to office furniture, file cabinets, lockers etc.

I have the same question for alarms and strobe locations please.

I have not been able to find answers for thes two issues.

Thank You all.

Jim my bet, although not positive, is that this is a fire code rule not NEC. I am not familiar with these codes but perhaps others are.

From NFPA 72 2010:
17.14.5 Manual fire alarm boxes shall be installed so that they are conspicuous, unobstructed, and accessible.

Basically a person in a wheel chair needs to be able to reach the manual station.

The strobe should be visible from all parts of the room. Reflections off walls are allowed, but difficult to prove to your fire AHJ if the light is the correct level.

There is a whole section on the requirements of manual stations and audible/visuals in the fire code.

Check the ADA. This dictates Accessiblity. It's one heck of a read. Pull stations must be within 5' of the exit. I dont have my 72 with me right now, but it's in there.
