I am trying to find out the wattage of a street light that I have to repair. The pole is approximately 40' and the head of the light has the # 10 on a sticker. Does this mean 100 watt? I have repaired some 400 watt lights in the past and all those had #40 on them. I just am not sure if the # always is 10% of wattage or if that was coincidence.

answered own question.

answered own question.

sometimes when you read a question you realize just how simple the problem really was. Looked up from manufacturers that it is indeed 100 watt and the blue color means mercury vapor. Sorry to waste ya'lls time. Learn something new every day!

Well I think the 175's I've seen just say 17, so it's close but not dead on.:)

Not at all a waste of time since you schooled me on the color part and also, someone may come along later and find your post through a site search.
