Art 625 NEC 2008 requires a disconnect on Level 2 & 3 Car chargers if over 60 amp
Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this requirement for a disconnect is not
included for 240 or 480 volts chargers less than 60 amps . Is it only common sense
to have a disconnect on all hardwired units

I know the level one's are cord and plug connected, along with some level two's. I don't have my code book in front of me to see the exact wording.

A disconnect rated at 240 or 480 volts less than 60 amps IS required. 625.23 requires a disconnect for chargers rated at over 60 amps OR more than 150 volts.
