Does anyone know how to model a 400W HPS fixture in SPICE? I've found one model, but it isn't suited for use in a circuit (too complicated... hard to explain, check it out http://www.ee.bgu.ac.il/~pel/lamp_models/HPS.htm). I'm currently using an 872.73 ohm resistor (three phase, 480V power), but I think I might need to add some sort of inductive component. Any ideas? The version of SPICE I'm using is LTspiceIV from Linear Technologies.
 
Well, without any idea what the purpose of the simulation you are doing is, it is very hard to suggest a model of an appropriate level of detail. Even the one that you said was too complex for your application doesn't model a number of the behaviors that some would find very important. That said, even if I knew your application and could determine the appropriate model, I don't have the expertise in HID lighting to provide one - but maybe someone here could. Good luck!
