PV (Photovoltaic) Wire Type - Can it be used in other applications?

I just noticed the PV Wire type. I only see it mentioned in the Photovoltaic sections of the NEC.

Can it be used in General Wiring applications that require UV protection and Wet rating?
Or is it ONLY allowed in Photovoltaic installations?
