Has anyone heard the word "relock" I took a 4 month assignment at a hospital and in the description it says "will be running relock" I was thinking it was a slang word for some type of bus, cable tray or something, like some people call a mineralac strap a "cowboy" or a "minnie" I dont know of any new types of cable or bus so I thought I'd ask, couldnt find anything on the internet either. The "reloc" systems I have seen are associated with lighting.
It normally consist on and engineered system with a reloc armored cable terminating at a j box then installed section by section to fixtures as specified locations. The fixture, incoming and departing reloc all plug together in a daisy chain fashion.
Labor savings install.

My experience with troubleshooting and Reloc is that the plug-in connections are intermittent.

They certainly can be, no doubt to me that the reliability of wire nuts is superior. On the other hand you can wire lighting incredibly fast which for some customers is the more important factor. The light fixtures arrive on the job reloc ready.

Many times when you are in line at a Target, Wal-mart etc their will be reloc wiring supplying the power poles at the registers with more reloc wiring under the registers.

Different chain, but exact same application. They don't like registers shutting down when they're busy.

If you use enough of the Reloc system be prepared to come across miswired factory connections making your lights do funny things....

I agree. I have found EGC continuity issues. May have been the installers fault. I do not know if the connectors are field assembled.

Thanks everyone ! I had a feeling Human Resources spelled it wrong. First thing I tought was " I hope this stuff isnt like the cable and fast connector connetions they use in office cubicles. Man what a pain ! A cable is supposed to have two circuits in it and I find only one, stuff like that ya know. Job security anyway, they think they save $$$$ and were gonna be pullin new MC or BX pipe whatever if the stuf is that bad, I know the crap under the cubicles is lousy....... Thanks again.......
