Okay Boys and Girls here's another question. Guess this one and you win a free trip to Hawaii.

The minimum rating of a service switch is

A. 30 amperes
B. 60 amperes
C. 100 amperes
D. 200 amperes

E. None of the above.

The phrase "service switch" is not defined or used in any way by the NEC. If you meant the "service disconnecting means," then 230.79(A) sets the minimum at 15 amps.

I prefer a window seat.

The answer key gives 'C' 100 amperes as the answer. But I would've said 'A' 30 amperes because it's the minimum that's given in the choices and the word 'residence' is not used in the question.

That's because they forgot to mention it is for a dwelling.

I would have said (B) 60 amps since 230.79 (A)&(B) do not require a service switch but rather a standard sp or dp switch would suffice. I guess I'll have to pay my own way.
