15 amp switch on a 20 amp wire

If the circuit is wired with 12-2 Romex
can you put a 15 amp light switch
on this circuit. i can find info on outlets but
not switches. if any one knows a code reference
let me know please.

Yes, you can use the switch.

Good question. I think that we all assumed a 20 amp circuit but the OP only mentions 20 amp wire.
