See section 314.23(D) of the 2011 NEC. Also be aware of local fire codes & NEC code modifications that may have additional requirements. Fire-resistant-rated acoustical suspended ceilings typcially have more robust structural and accesory support requirements.
I'm using a Caddy T Bar Box Hanger for the receptacle. I just needed to find out if any other support was required. Thanks for the help I will look up those code references.
Here, if it's in the t-bar ceiling (speakers, fire alarms, recept boxes, etc) it get's a wire. We saw some things after the '94 earthquake, and believe me it didn't have to weigh much for it to have hurt if it had hit you.
