DGP/FACP

I have not run across that term before. In what context is it used? Is it mentioned along with the FACP/system?, maybe like a remote annunciator?

No, in my experience a DGP is a device that takes inputs and outputs in a different form. For instance a device that takes inputs from a FACP then outputs to a central station or fire department dispatch center.

Is this a Keltron or Digitize DGP?

I believe simplex has DGPs. They use the term for sub assembly panels, not the main panel. The panels combine multiple types of data, in some cases.

I'm going back a few years but from what I remember a DGP was used as an information gathering panel in large, computer based FA systems. For example, a 40 story high-rise may have a DGP on every 3rd floor gathering manual, supervisory and automatic smoke or heat detection information on a fire floor, floor below and floor above basis and report it back to a master FA panel via data cable.

So, in short and in most cases, a DGP would not be considered a FA panel as it does not make any fire alarm decisions once the data is collected and reported back to the main FACP. However, there are systems designed where FA panels are used to serve specific areas or outlying buildings and report limited information back to a master FA panel. Locally, they make decisions to provide audible notification, close fire doors, etc. but may not notify the fire dept. (the job of the master FACP). In that case you might say that these specific FA panels could be considered the same as a DGP.

Generally the term DGP (data gathering panel) is not defined by anyone official.

I've found DGP's are slave panels to a FACP. If the SLC loop is broken, the DGP is not capable of much intelligence past some downgraded mode of operation.

I agree with that statement, it's usually a slave panel and reports back to a master panel via data or slc loop communications.
