Corner wiring accessory

Recently I was in a new customers condo and noticed that in the corner where the wall meets the ceiling there was some sort of a box that I have never seen before. This customer has someone else living in a condo above him so adding any hidden circuits in this type of condo has always involved doing wall and/or ceiling damage or installing surface raceway. After closer examination, it appeares to have been installed to cover the cut that results when trying to make the 90 degree turn with a wire when there is no access above the ceiling. Someone ran a wire up the inside of the wall from a wall receptacle and above the ceiling to the center of the ceiling for a fan outlet. Does anyone know what this box or cover is called and who makes it? Have I been living under a rock for the last 35 years?

A picture would help. Anayway you don't have one. Was it a commercial

product, maybe Wiremold ? Did this box cover both the cieling and wall in a

45* degree fashion ? Could it have been something custom made from a local

sheetmetal shop ? We are all axnious to learn what this is ? Welcome to the Forum.

The box measured 3" wide, 3" out from the wall on the ceiling and 3" down the wall. The face plate was mounted to the back plate with 2 screws and was at a 45 degree angle. I fell better since no one else seems to know about this mystery box.

It looks like it could be a wiremold accessory but I checked and found nothing resembling it. It looks like it could be used as an entrance end fitting for 3000 wiremold. Better yet, an internal corner fitting except that the cover would have to be closed at the ends. Not open to allow for the raceway to enter. I suspect that this item was a custom made item. Now I need to convince my customer that I'm not an idiot.
