I have an accountant that is going to be helping me out now about once a month and a bookeeper that will be working a couple of hours a week or as needed. She will be doing my accounts payable, deposits, sending out letters to all my past due customers, and some of my invoicing. Any advice on how to make the most of them and on how to protect my but. I trust these people but always here of people getting ripped off. I do not have much but it is all I got.
Thanks

Hire another accountant to audit your books every 3 or 4 months.

I have both in the same office.....quickbooks online pretty much does all the entry for me from the bank link and the Quickbooks guy just has to clean it up and tag it all. If he has questions he just e-mails me. It's very inexpensive that way...

Plus neither are in a position to write checks or move money and they charge by the hour. It's all good..

Crime pays.

Crime pays.

Don't give them any authority to sign anything. I would make sure they explained everything they did to me when they are done. Talk to your insurance agent about coverage's for internal theft.

I have a friend that works for the states attornies office. She vehemently hates embezzlers, the punishments NEVER fits the crime. White collar crime pays well.:jawdrop:

Make sure you still pay attention to that part of your business. I worked for a company were the trusted office manager stole at least 80,000 from the company.
