The only time I woud know of a max distance would be if you are applying 702.11 or 701.11(B)(5) then it would need to be in sight of the building served which by definition would not more than 50 ft.

Original design i had the transfer switch located 10 feet from the generator. However there are equipment allocated in that space, so i need to move the transfer switch else where.
