Sub panel circuit breaker

There is a Buss lug kit that fits in the space of a breaker. It is not an over current device. I have used them for Sq D and Cuttler Hammer.
This one is good for 225 amps and takes four spaces.
as long as you have a main breaker and run the correct size conductors, you can feed through and not have and issue.

I don't see how those breakers can work as a side mount with 3/0 conductors. I don't think you would have the bending radius. I believe those breakers mount at the top of the panel but I may be wrong. I guess I should say that all the GE and many of the Cutler Hammer residential panels I have seen will not allow that style breaker to be mounted on the bus below the main.

I don't think the conductor comes out toward the side of the panel but is parallel to the side of the panel, and that is why the lugs are staggered like they are.

I am also guessing these are priced high enough that in most cases people would buy a main breaker panel and supply it with a feeder tap, but could come in handy for existing installations sometimes, or could be more likely to be seen in a 400 amp panel at times.

I used the Sq D QO version a few years ago, and I think it was like Kwired stated, the lugs aimed the wire down the wire space rather than towards the edge of the panel, but I don't remember exactly.

Siemens makes a stab-in 225 amp subfeed lug kit for their loadcenters that take 4 spaces. Two spaces right across from each other, rather than from top to bottom.

I have never bought a Square D item at the list price in the catalog. Most of the time at least half of list price, many times even less. Same goes for list prices in catalogs of most equipment

Having dealt with musical instruments and stereo equipment for most of my life I can firmly say that list prices are horse hockey.

Agreed. I was in a music store once where I overheard two salespersons discussing an amp one of them had sold. One asked, "What did you get for it?" The other answered "I got LIST!" They both busted out laughing.

Aside: I am REALLY glad I bought my Strat and Les Paul over 30 years ago. A black LP Custom like the one I bought used for $350 in 1977 lists for nearly $3000 today. Ouch!
