On a long run of cable, I was considering using armoured aluminum cable for a stove. Curious what feedback I may get from those who may have encountered residential aluminum wiring for ranges. This one is for a "Longhouse" which occasionally may get used to cook up a "storm". Should I stick to copper for this application?

For a very long run the Al will be considerably cheaper even when you need a larger conductor size.

I have always used AL and never had a problem. IMHO I don't think you will be pulling 50a even with everything on. Even if it did it would cycle a bit. How llong is long? Over 200' ?

It was for a community kitchen so i wanted to keep the cost down, but decided to go with copper and not worry about connections. last range with aluminum I had got called for had caught fire due to an old CEB breaker not tripping while it arc'd an orange light in the kitchen aparently...probably a poor bonding connection on the metal box.
