bonding

I thought that MC was the answer to BX and it's usage, thus the MC would have a bonding wire. Each individual type of conductor would have it's own connector!
While you can grandfather an existing circuit or service you can not use something that wasn't in existance for a new application! The circuit your providing for needs to meet what your Code is today.

Granted it might well be the same type fitting, an example of a simple over strap and two bolts, but you've touched it, or your going to and know now what to do. Install something that shines, JMHO...

There are so many types of MC available that one need to make sure the connectors they use are listed for use with their cable. Hopital grade, continuous corrugated, Al jacket, steel jacket, continuous Al strip for ground etc. Some are Very much like AC cable but are still called MC.

The box USUALLY lists exactly what types of cable the connector is rated for. Could be a costly mistake if the inspector is on his game, not to mention a costly lawsuit if their is a problem.
