DIESEL GENERATOR FUEL TANK

If there is a separate fuel tank does the electrical contractor usually install this? Thanks.

Did the electrical contractor sell the generator (and tank)?

If so he usually is usually responsible for all parts of installation, doesn't mean he can't subcontract parts of it if he chooses to do so.

Might want to make sure that any contract documents make this clear if you don't intend to do any portion of the installation. Owners are only going to see that the generator does them no good if it has no fuel source.

In most areas I've ever worked in elec. contractors are not allowed to do mechanical. Is this a day tank or a main tank? You will have power and control elec. work for the day tank that is your work.

The auxilliary tank installation is beyond the competence of the electrical contractor.

That's not to say he won't be involved in the installation - but the actual installation is usually designed and built by the generator vendor and his GC or engineers.

It's also likely that the generator itself will need some modification, or at least some additional plumbing. The generator usually has it's own tank, and that tank is not usually designed to operate together with a pressurised feed. I once addressed this issue with a back-pressure regulator and a return line, but that was an exceptional job.

Yes, a day tank. power and controls I am aware of. Was concerned about the actual transport and install of the day tank. Thanks.
