7.2 kw heat strip with #8 nm cable

A Rheem residential air handler unit in attic has a 7.2kw heat strip / 240volt / 30.0 heater amps / 3.8 motor amps / mca 43 / ocp 45.
Can a #8 nm 60deg rated for 40 amps be used ?

It would not pass inspection here. Conductor must have a rating equal or greater than the MCA

I agree with Augie, you need to use the MCA for sizing the conductors, so #8 NM is no good. Use MC cable and you can use #8's.

Would it meet code if you used 2 ckts, one for the heat and one for the AH, even thoiugh the nameplate called for one?
