200A FEED

How would I calculate the size wire/pipe for a 200a feed about 150' from switchboard to 200A panel? Foreman said to run a 200a feed. Copper in EMT. THanks.

It actually depends on the calculated load. Do you need 200 amps? Is the EMT being used as an EGC? Who speced CU over AL? Is voltage drop a problem?

Count your conductor Number and size. Go to chapter 9 Tables 4 & 5 and calculate the needed pipe size. If it is 3 phase with a full neutral then you need 4- 3/0 copper usually thhn wire for 200 amps. If a ground is needed then #6 based on T.250.122

Back on topic....conductor size..any relative voltage drop.....whats the ambient temperature.... Don't forget to size to the 75 degree column.
