Upblast Centrifigul Exhaust fan speed control

I was asked if the slide fan speed control for "ceiling fans only" would work with a roof mounted 1/8hp 120volt direct drive roof mounted exhaust fan? I also have a heavier rotary fan speed control switch... do theydo the same thing aside from handling more power? Thanks again!

It totally depends on the type of motor in the roof mount fan. Some single phase motors can be speed controlled, some cannot. No way for us to know.
