hello all. not a question just venting on local bureaucracy.
So I get a call from building owner and poco service planner stating there are burned up service entry conductors in need of replacment. Sure enough burned up they were.(apt building I might add)
Well poco leaves and forgets to unlock meter. Now poco tells me I need a permit to repair feed and they wont unlock meter without it. (Yes for a repair they called me for.) both phases and neutral inches from blasting together yet they want to waste time.

Off to building and safety I go, pulling permit for emergency service entry conductor replacment is how I worded misc. permit. Explained what was going on . Guess what the next question was. " Will you be shutting off any power to building" I kept a straight face folks and said yes electrical inspector Service entry replacement will require me to shut off power to bldng.(are you kidding me?) without missing a beat he says well you'll need a release from housing dept before issuance of permit.

Goodbye ......... Let owner know of all Ive gone through and I will continue to try and get this done but if anything were to happen here who do you all feel would be liable poco? since they left power on to building after seeing this. I know this will be fixed before it came to this . But just curious of any takes on this...

when they were demolishing the technicolor film processing plant in hollywood,
after all the film processing went to china.....

there was a substation in the basement of that facility, which was a block
square, and it belonged to ladwp, and needed have the 2 MW xfmr removed
before demolition could be complete... so they contacted dwp early on to
get that done....

when we finally showed up (all two of us) to remove it, the only thing left standing
was the little corner of the facility where the sub was.

it took 13 months to get two guys out there for a week to cut it loose, remove
the slab over the lift out area, get a crane and a flatbed to haul it away.
3 days for two guys, and a day for the crane.

13 months.

"your call is now number 7,406..... thank you for calling LADWP."
