Putting on another hat! What is the difference between the NFPA 70E Standard and the Handbook set?

Same difference between the NEC and the NEC handbook?

Recommendations are welcome.

Yes, the handbook has extra commentary and pictures in it as well as the full code text.

Yep, the handbook has notes that explain the thought process, non enforcable stuff but good for undearstanding.
