I installed this motion sensor on the ceiling,inside a closet. I ve seen them before there, call manufact, they say they are not desinged for ceiling but for wall. I asked if they would work there, guy says yes but it would interfere withe the line of detection, that would be the only restriction. I installed this sensor on 3 different closets so that line of detection is not a problem for me, when open the door, then would see me. Guy from Rab said, yeah no problem you could use it. Now, when you open doors nearby ,the motion detect goes on. guy from Rab, said to put some tape covering half the eye, to reduce sensitivity (it does not have a sensitivity adjs.). It was done , but still same problem. I cover the whole eye, and then the whole sensor and still the movement of the doors activated them. Have anyone seen this before? Now I'm changing them of course to the ceiling mount occupancy sensor. But it is really weird. I don't think there is is a mechanical part inside the motion sensors, that when being in a horizontal position gets this action, but anyway. I will try to get rab, and explain my findings. All 3 do the same thing. The activation is reduce a lot when I open diferent doors and there is not too much air movement in the room, weird!!

What is the technology? IR, Ultrasonic, or dual? I am suspecting it is ultrasonic that is causing the problem. "Motion sensor" is sort of misleading. It is kind of like an ohmeter doesn't actually read resistance, it reads voltage drop and calculates resistance. I am not saying I understand the problem, but until you know the tech it is hard to even begin to troubleshoot.

Experiencing Same Problem

Experiencing Same Problem

Mtnelectrical,

I'm experiencing the same problem as you. I installed the motion sensor inside my closet and when I walk by the light turns on consistently. Let me know if you found a way to decrease the sensor's sensitivity.

Thanks;

The wall mount idea is nuts. Everybody hangs clothes in their closets. Seen the same

situation in kitchen pantrys. HO had to leave a bare space on the shelf for sensor line of sight.

Almost makes you want to use jamb switches, but they can be a PITA to install
