517.32(C)(3) permits them to be on the life-safty branch but I don't think they are required to be on that branch. What branch is the AHU associated with the damper on?

While NFPA 70 lists requirements for healthcare facilities, one has to remember this is usually the minimum.

Most all States have a governing board that sets up rules for healthcare facilities. NC is one that does, and it totally surpasses what is stated in the NFPA.

Here are two snippets of the forward for California;
