Is there any requirement that ground tails have to be THHN?

250.119 Identification of Equipment Grounding Conductors.
Unless required elsewhere in this Code, equipment
grounding conductors shall be permitted to be bare,
covered, or insulated
. Individually covered or insulated
equipment grounding conductors shall have a continuous
outer finish that is either green or green with one or more
yellow stripes except as permitted in this section. Conductors
with insulation or individual covering that is green,
green with one or more yellow stripes, or otherwise identified
as permitted by this section shall not be used for ungrounded
or grounded circuit conductors.

Do they make solid THHN :? When ever I went to a supply house and asked for THHN, they never said "solid or stranded?"

310.106 Conductors.
(C) Stranded Conductors.
Where installed in raceways,
conductors 8 AWG and larger, not specifically permitted or
required elsewhere in this Code to be solid, shall be
stranded.

As the NEC is a permissive code, this permits solid wire of size 10 AWG or smaller. I have certainly seen 12 AWG and below THHN in solid. Most of 10 AWG I've seen is TW or more ancient.

#6 solid is a very common animal for grounding/bonding purposes also.
