Good morning,
I am installing an enclosure that is 60" hx 36"w and houses, vfds, 24vdc power supply, motor starters, etc. I need to install a 480v-240/120 3 phase 6kva transformer next to it. 480v will come out of the enclosure to transformer and 240v will come out of transformer and go into enclosure. My question is, how close can I install the transformer. Do I have to abide by the width of the enclosure or 30" rule stated in the code 110.26 A2?

I know I have seen applications where the transformer is closer than 30" feeding a panel.

thanks

If the transformer is next to the enclosure, then it will not interfere with the working space that the enclosure requires. The enclosure is wider than the minimum clearance space (side to side) of 30 inches, so as long as you keep the space in front of the enclosure (the entire 36" width of the enclosure) clear for the minimum required depth of 42 inches, then it will not matter where you put the transformer.
