Is a class 320 meter socket good for 400 amps?

I thought they were only good for 320 amps. Or that just a continuous load rating?

I have a load calculation for a new building that is about 320 amps, but I want to make sure there is some spare capacity.

So can I use a class 320 meter with a 400 amp Main circuit breaker and a 400 amp panel?

Your assumption is correct. Should be 400 max and 320 listing is continuious.

my guess would be that if your load calculation comes out to 320A, you will rarely if ever see anything north of 200A. You will likely have plenty to spare.
