How do you deal with the T's used in overhead services, when it is nescessary to pull in another wire. I have found these to be a pain to deal with. Here in our area we are no longer allowed to use T's in a new service.
However we can make repairs on an existing service.
Have one coming up monday, on a meter base change.
I expect the existing wires will be to short to reach the lugs on the new meter base.
I am thinking i will relocate the meter base to the side of the existing base,
and use L.B.'s to go back to the panel.

Several times I have seen ,in some " old " instalations , sub panal directly off the meter base .

Yes that is what i was refurring to . T used above the meter base.
entrance wires from county coming down from weather-head to top of meter-base passing thru the T. Wires from bottom of meter -base
going up the same conduit and thru the T in to the panel.

Well, I think that's easy. Just take it all down, starting at the weather head and put back all new to meet modern standards and requirements.

I didn't know what you were talking about at first, but see no problem with it NEC wise. Some POCO I could see maybe not wanting to allow that anymore.

I have not seen a T in a service riser before but is common around here to see load wires run back up the riser and connect to load side overhead wiring - especially on farms.

Wouldn't be allowed here. This is from the Service & Metering book put out by Consumers Energy:

3.10 Conductors carrying unmetered energy are not to be located in the same raceway with conductors carrying metered energy.

Probably was not always the rule and there may still be some old installations like that.
