Here are some pics from my third stand by generator but first with a whole house ATS. Let me know what you think and yes these are related to the following threads: http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=147551, http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=147577, http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=147683, http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=147552. You'll notice how I used the "C" conduit bodies in the one pic, which I used as a pulling point as well as to help with the 360 degree rule, as was mentioned here: http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=147843. To take the issue further, that's an 1 1/2" "C" on that 1 1/4" run, which was recommended in an older post. The 1 1/4 LB was listed for 3 #2's but I've also got a #6 in there as well as three #12's so I had to bump it up.

Why a service disconnect with a service rated ATS?
Are the EGC bonded with the grounded conductors in the disconnect and ATS?
Where is the gen. disconnect?

Hi Ceb,

Initially I was going to enter the top of the 3r ATS by punching my own hole but abandoned that idea after seeing all those components inside, couldn't imagine routing 4/0 AL in and around them. If I were to enter the bottom of the ATS I would have roughly 9' of "Unprotected" SE in the basement and I didn't think an inspector would be cool with that, hence the reason I went with the 200a disconnect. The grounded conductor and EGC are bonded in the disc but I removed the factory installed bond in both the ATS and the load center. I of course had to separate the grounded conductors from the egc's in the load center as well. Here in NJ all the inspectors I've talked with consider the breaker on board the generator accessible so then don't require an additional disc for the gen outside. On this Cummins the breaker is out in the open so to speak, it has a rubbery/plastic covering over it and you can readily just flip it on or off.
