normal supply conductors sharing same raceways, etc with generator load conductors

Hello,

Are normal power supply conductors permitted to share the same raceway, J-boxes, or wireways with generator load conductors? I've always thought it was against code until I saw normal supply conductors sharing a wireway with conductors from a back-up generator then became unsure of myself. Thanks.

It depends how the generator supply system is classed. If this is an "Optional Standby System" (702) it is OK. See Art. 700,701 and 702.

It looks like this install was classified under 702

And in no case are they permitted together if the normal supply conductors are the service conductors - except at the service disconnect enclosure.
