Small appliance circuits

Just curious as to how many 20A small appliance circuits contractors are installing in new construction. I'm talking about an average size kitchen with 12-15 lineal ft of counter top. I was talking to another contractor and we were going over ways to cut down on unnecessary installs and he was telling me they usually run 4 circuits to the kitchen, and pick up the fridge on that also. I told him I usually run 2 and put the fridge on a 15A by itself. He asked how many call backs I've had for tripped breakers and I replied not one in over 15 years. His reply was he would rather load up general purpose receps because there is never any load on them. Any thoughts?

I got used to 2 counter top receptacles per circuit, length of counters would influence# of circuits. Probably overkill in big kitchens, still just one toaster, one coffeepot, etc.

Most of time at least 3 or 4, unless we are going for less cost Vs. possible performance issues.

Remember SABC's are outlets in dining room, breakfast room, pantry also.
