Is the space above the flammable storage ceilings are considered part of the flammable area and need to be Class I rated?. The room is a storage of petroleum-based lubricants, paints, solvents, etc. and is classified as Class I Div II. Thanks,
It depends on several factors such as the total geometry and ventilation of the room. However, if it is used for storage only, the quantity of the material stored also is a factor - it may not be classified at all. See Article 515 and NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquides Code.
