As means and methods are defined in section 516.2,

Is it true that a Dental Offices are exempt from patient care wiring and protection?

I'm designing a dental Office that does have the examining rooms, operating room, and x-ray capabilities.
Does only section 517 part I apply?

Thanks for your comments.

The following can be found in 517.2...

Health Care Facilities. Buildings or portions of buildings
in which medical, dental, psychiatric, nursing, obstetrical,
or surgical care are provided. Health care facilities include,
but are not limited to, hospitals, nursing homes, limited
care facilities, clinics, medical and dental offices, and ambulatory
care centers, whether permanent or movable.

This may help. The general areas specified bellow such as offices, hall ways, waiting rooms etc. are not covered by part II, and 517 applies throughout the dental office

517.10 Applicability.
(A) Applicability. Part II shall apply to patient care areas of all health care facilities.
(B) Not Covered. Part II shall not apply to the following:

  1. Business offices, corridors, waiting rooms, and the like in clinics, medical and dental offices, and outpatient facilities
  2. Areas of nursing homes and limited care facilities wired in accordance with Chapters 1 through 4 of this Code where these areas are used exclusively as patient sleeping rooms
