I am a lic. elec. contractor in Fl. and have always thought that as such I was allowed to design systems as long as they were under $125,000 and up to 600 volts.I am now being told by a local plan reviewer, that the voltage cannot exceed 240 volt. The drawing is for 2 pumps under 100 amps @ 600 volts. Can anyone give me the information on what we can or cannot design.
Thank You

I am somewhat amazed that this requires any kind of design at all.

You really need to read up on your State statutes. This would be both on your liicense and what the
Limits are in respects to the building codes. The way you stated the numbers seem to be a limit to what
your license allows. From quick rough reading around (9) you can get the jest of when a building size
is 1200sq as a limit for residential structural without "engineering".

The building codes and practical licensing requirements are more in play here.

I frankly would go talk to a Lawyer if you fall asleep reading through the statutes.

As far as I know, that is something that is set by the state, maybe the local juridiction, but certainly no farther than state. I know here in California it is set by the State.

I agree, the "design" I submitted for a permit was a simple drawing of the feeders from a transformer to a panel and then to the pumps with all the wire sizes, conduit, disconnecting means etc. I was told I needed a engineered and stamped set of drawings because the voltage was over 240V (480). I have looked at the statute and it is somewhat vague.
