Had a call recently for a cove heater in a bedroom making strange noise, the tenant claimed it was keeping her from sleeping. This was at a low income USDA and or HUD operated apartment complex that I frequently am called by for both installations and service work.

Tenant was not home at the time I was there but maintenance man took me in, showed me which heater was in question. I could hear a faint noise but was not convinced it was coming from the heater. After turning off all the heat circuits (just in case they may have been marked wrong) The noise was still there. A little further investigating I found a pocket sized electronic poker game laying on top of a chest of drawers below the heater in question - that was the source of the sound I was hearing, it was stuck in some mode where it made constant sound.

I told the administrator what I found and she just laughed. I assume I found what the tenant was complaining about, as I wasn't called back. Some service calls are worth a lot in entertainment value:)

we get a fair number of calls for plc programs that are "not working". most of the time they turn out to be something else. tripped cb or overloads are common, maladjusted limit switches, etc.

I got sent to NY once because a plc program was "not working". Turned out the machine had left the OEM with a limit switch that was adjusted in such a way as the machine just could not work. How it left the OEM in such a way was a big mystery as supposedly the runoff included making a bunch of parts.

If the screws holding the cover or faceplate are two tight the cove heater will make crazy noises as it trys to expand when it heats up.

I was thinking you were going to find something a little more R rated in her bedroom like my coworkers did a few years ago.....:ashamed1:
