HVAC Control Wire Support Question??

Hi! Can you attach your control wires on to the support hangers of the mechanical equipment your directly controlling? (i.e. duct hangers or Una-Strut for Pipe)

I couldn't find a post about this when i did a quick search.. If you can where could I find it in the NEC? :?

That situation is not addressed specifically in the code. Once installed, the support hangers are considered structural and therefore can be used to support electrical cables. That being said, in my experience, some contractors consider the supports to be theirs and do not like to see other trades using them without permission. As an apprentice I was always trained to never support electrical equipment/raceways/cables from another trades work.
 
The code does allow for attaching low voltage wiring to the outside of the EMT or other raceway for an "associated system." I have seen where the HVAC installer will attach the low voltage to the ductwork itself.
