The reason for the delay, I am told, is because there are conflicts between the codes that Michigan uses. The conflicts involve different trades.

FWIW, we use the Michigan Residential Code for residential electrical installations and the NEC for the rest. We call that menagerie 'Part 8'.

My '05 book was only good for a few months. That is likely to happen again with the '11. From the way it looks, the new Part 8 including the '11 NEC will be adopted sometime later in 2013. Then, if there are no conflicts, the 2014 will be adopted in 2014.

This happens quite a bit in Michigan. At least, once it's done, it applies to ALL electrical installations in the state. Localities can't make their own rules here any more.
