Is there anyone out there that has access to the Satcon communication software for checking inverter parameters for Satcon Power Gate Plus Inverters. Unfortunately, I have a customer who elected to install Satcon inverters. Now with them in Chapter 7, I cannot get any technical support. I believe that the DC Undervoltage parameters are incorrectly set. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain. We installed four of the last SatCon inverters available and we have some issues as well. I believe that one of our guys mentioned to me a service company that works on SatCon that is made up of ex-SatCon employees. I'll post info here if I can get it.

BTW, if SatCon wowed you with their Equinox LC ungrounded bipolar inverters, which never got UL approval, and now, of course, are off the table, in reality they were just rebranded REFUsol inverters, which are UL approved and available. http://americas.refusol.com/photovoltaic-inverter/refusol-012k-ul-024k-ul/

We have installed several of them and they are performing well.

PM sent with contact info for someone who may be able to help you. Good luck.

Also: Satcon, like Siemens, were both unable to obtain a UL certification for the Refu 'white-labeled' product.

Yes, we went around and around with SatCon over that. They told us in May of 2012 that they expected their UL cert for the Equinox LC (rebranded REFUsol) inverter "in a few days", and they told us that every time we asked - for months. They never got it. One of our guys did some research and found the REFUsol inverters and the rebranding scheme, so we just went to the source and bought them directly.

It was a little puzzling to me, however, that the SatCon UL listing wasn't a rubber stamp, since REFUsol had already gotten the hardware listed.

It *should* have been a rubber stamp, but there were technical details out of Satcon and Seimens control that prevented a re-listing.

Were they being manufactured on the same line? If so, no clue. Branding is usually just a label change.

I believe that they were, though there's a question as to if any SatCon Equinox LC's were ever actually made. SatCon visited us and sold us on them (with a promise that UL listing was coming "any day now") for a couple of applications, so we designed them in. When we had waited as long as we could for them to be listed, one of our guys did some research and found the REFUsol machines, which were identical except for cosmetics to the SatCon units and had a better price. That was lucky for us, as redesigning the systems around a different inverter would have been a pain and a time challenge.
