1) Do you have crew broken up into specialist ? 1 guy boxes, 1 guy only pulls home runs, 1 guy only drills - they stay on that tasks and never do anyting else

2) Do you have (2) guys in unit do everything (2) guys in another unit - have the race ??

Our company is just getting into Multi family and what to find out what works best .

I think it is good to have everyone doing all the tasks, but can often speed things up if you do one task at a time. Drill all holes while drilling, mount all boxes as one task, or have one guy drilling while another is mounting boxes does work. Repetition of tasks usually speeds things up but you don't want to set up for one task, switch to another task then come back to the first task, if you can avoid it.

Having two crews "race" I would think would have more of a tendency to make mistakes, because they are in a race they may take shortcuts and even forget to do certain things.

The one time I raced a guy it was condo units on the beach. We had ran through all of the other units. Last two. 1000 ft spools. Pulled majority of mine but darn it felt flexible. 3/4 of the way through the condo,I finally decided to check. Stranded wire inside MC cable. I have never seen such a thing before or since. Cost me the darn race by 2 devices.
