So we bought a couple of new trucks last week and we are tooling these out. Just the RKI cross box and RKI side boxes.

After looking around for plastic parts containers I realized there pretty much is nothing out there that works. You can get the plastic food containers but they are flimsy and really not a proper fit.

Anyone here have any ideas for parts bins? We need something like a 4"x 4"x 6" deep bin for locknuts, fittings, etc.

The Akro-Mils bins are kind of ok but they drop in the front is inconvenient for parts.

If you can't find what you want, I would become best friends with your local sheet metal contractor & have him make bins to fit your tool boxes.
For ideas on how to setup a van Fulthrotl- Randy has a slick setup. For a box truck check out member 220/221, he has a nice setup.

Not really tool box type containers but I make dividers for 5 gallon buckets out of plywood that divides them in to 4 separate spaces. I keep one for 1/2" one for 3/4" and one for 1" on the van. I put couplings in one slot connectors in another 1 holes in the other and unistrut straps in the fourth.

I still do not see anything that is really made for the side tool boxes. I thought about working up a few details and have a plastic molding operation make a few for us then if they work out fab several thousand to try and sell.

I am kind of partial to these

yup. friend of mine has his service bed set up with those...
the end bins on both sides have them stacked all the way up,
marked with what is in them.... you can toss them on a cart
and haul them into a building, and your stuff stays sorted.

festool systainers have the same thing, but cost a hell of a lot
more, but lock together quickly.

tanos (the folks that make festool systainers for festool)
have some seriously cool organizational stuff for work vans.
they really don't even bother marketing it in north america
due to the cost, but it's sure tool porn.... :p

I have what you want but I don't know where you would get them. They were used at our store room supply room. There 4x4x8 to 12 inches long. There are perfect for what you need. They have dividers that you can move. I have 1/2,3/4,and 1" . I took a lot of them with me when I left( retired). In the morning I'll see if there is a make on them.
