Anyone ever see the Frank Blau dvd's? Seems interesting. They sell them for 250$ Are they worth 250$?

dunno. value is in the eye of the beholder.

he partnered with george brazil, among others,
formed this:

"In 2004, the growing demand for education and guidance
prompted Contractors 2000 to transform itself into Nexstar? Network,
a business-development and best practices organization that delivers
comprehensive business training, systems and support to independent
home service plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical professionals.

Today, Nexstar has more than 400 member companies across the continent
and remains steadfastly dedicated to its members, while maintaining the
founding core values—integrity, quality, value, member profitability and
customer satisfaction."

he's been championing flat rate pricing for a long time.

Frank was the godfather of flat rate, he used to write columns in Plumbing and Mechanical mag., he revolutionized plumbing service, no reason electrical service work should not be the same way.

except for the plethora of muppets in pick up trucks with a roll of flex
and a fish tape, and "huggy beer electric" in magnetic signs on the
sides of the truck.

flat rate

flat rate

Im getting tired of explaining my estimates to people. I just put a big number on them and they call back. I'm thinking flat rate is the way to go.

Well, one or two out of five ain't bad. :D

Uncanny, we were talking about this the other day on the way to work. One guy's grandma got nailed for $15,000 for a furnace swap that took the tech about three hours to execute.

Funny, a chum and I heard the same thing from ESI. The closest thing coming to a "workable tip you can take home for free and make money on INSTANTLY!!!" was the tip about buying a phone number from a company that just went under, when they had a big ad in the yellow pages.

The idea is, you buy their number (since the number just came available after the competitor went under), and people seeing their ad are calling you! You use that undercharging dummy's free advertising!

The only calls we garnered using that little trick were bill collectors hunting down the guy in the yellow pages. :slaphead:

Different strokes for different folks, I'm glad the Blau/Rohr/ESI/Nexstar thing is working out for you.

yeah, if he had customers, he'd a probably stayed around to service them.

BC (before cellphones) i had a digital pager that had a
number that it seems was used by someone dealing
drugs.

after a month or so, i gave it up and got another number.
it's amazing how many people call a drug dealer between
2 & 4 AM.....
