We just got a new machine at work. The problem is it is set up for 3 phase 208v. The machine is rated at 14.5 amps at 208v I will need to purchase a transformer from 480v 3phase to 208 to run the machine. Would I need to purchase a 1.5kva or do I need a different kva transformer?
Thanks timboe

Wait I think my 1.5kva is all wrong. What size kva do I need because it needs to be all 3phase 480v primary 208v secondary for 14.5amps at 208v

My math comes up as 5.2 kva. 6 kva would be the next standard 3 phase transformer.
If it's primarily a motor load you might run the stats by your suppliers they might recommend a 9 kva depending on starting data.
(Torque, number of starts, etc.)
