T Bar hanger

I have a job coming up where I need to put six receptacles in a suspended ceiling. I was looking at using Caddy 512HD,with a 1.5 4X4
and a 5/8 plaster extension. Anyone ever use these hangers? It looks from the description that the box snaps on through a knock out. Do they make up tight.

I have used them, they work fine. You have to snap it into the grid securely.

We use them all the time. Very secure. I screw the bar to the grid too.

They work well, but you may need a larger plaster ring, 3/4... 7/8"

Thanks Mike, I was thinking 5/8, It said a 2 1/8 box would end up being flush with face of ceiling tile.I need a spot for a
receptacle, so thats where I got the 1.5 4X4 then a 5/8 plaster ring.Thanks for the info.

Shallow box and 5/8 p-ring is perfect for the 512HD. The box twists on to the hanger through the center KO. A couple of tips:

1. Use the best ceiling tile available even if you cull it from another room. Don't use old, stained or sagging tiles.

2. If your using MC, pre-fab the assembly on the ground. I screw the CR20 terminal screws down but not the yoke screws, of course. Lay it in, screw a framie or two to the grid, screw the 6-32's down, install the P8, go terminate the live end, test.

A CR20 is a 20A duplex receptacle. Not sure about P8.

I think it's a Tek screw. (self tapping)

Since I don't work construction, I usually substitute a #8 X 1/2" waferhead sharp-point SMS (Sheet Metal Screw).

No. To help you understand the pattern, a 2-gang toggle switch plate is a P11. A 3-gang toggle switch wall-plate is a P111.

CR20 is an abbreviation for a duplex 5-20R. The CR stands for "commercial (spec) receptacle". I like these a lot better than expensive pressure-plate recepts.

Since you are doing 3-phase wye twistlock, you are probably using greenfield and stranded wire. But if you are using 10/4 MC, my recommendation to pre-fab the whole assembly on the ground makes even more sense. Pushing all that solid #10 into a flimsy piece of sheetrock overhead can be a chore.
