China made LED lamps

Has anyone order LED lamps direct from China? We are looking for GU10 120V, MR16 24 VAC, and street light retrofits. Any ideas, advice, experience?

Isn't everything made in China anyway?

yes. with great success. my friend got par 20s and mr16s for under 3$ ea with great quality a few years ago. you have to order bigger quantities, though. they will even make led to your spec - beam spread, color, base. i suggest buying samples from them first though.

I had some what I suspect to be power supply failure long before their advertized life. So if you order in bulk or large quantities you may want to ask them for actual thermal aging testing results of the whole assembly, not just calculated failure rate based on the LED element life.

You need to be more careful, while ordering anything from China as there are chances of you getting victimized with low quality products and this is applicable for all products not only LEDs.

On the other hand some of us older fogies remember how we used to laught - OK, not some of us nerds - at the transistor radio toys coming out of Japan? Do NOT dismiss or discount China, they are detemined and persistent and got the numerical advantage.
