Use of Cable as Ceiling Receptacle.

I work in a fishery and in the ceiling above aquariums, is it legal to use SJOW cord with cord grip to lower the point of a ceiling receptacle? Can I use a hardwired 6 outlet receptacle cord?. The existing receptacles are all GFCI protected. Items are temporarily hooked up for periods up to 3 months. It is cumbersome for personnel to plug into ceiling because of aquariums and peripheral equipment around aquariums. Is a Ceiling mounted reel the only way to go?

Pendant mounted receptacles are quite common, although tbere may be specific conditions in the area that prevent their use.

Would hardwiring a multi-receptacle extention cord considered a pendant mounted receptacle? It would not be longer that 3 foot.

Hard wiring a standard extension cord is not an approved use.
Wire the appropriate SO family cord and put a properly strain relieved box on the end with multiple receptacles.
