Details of the project:
  • Location: Open Boiler Plant
  • Chain Lengths from Ceiling Support Structure: About 12'-0"
  • 600V and Below

My first inclination would be to recommend that SJO or STO cable be fastened and run along the chain support to the light fixture termination.

However, STO cable would require a deviation from the project specification, which calls for FMC in this application.

Would it be code compliant if I:
  • run conductors for fixture in FMC with an EGC down the 12'-0" vertical run
  • and securely fasten the FMC to the chains supporting the light fixtures (within 1' of the juction box at the ceiling and every 3' or so down to the fixture)

Any help or suggestions of other ways to accomplish this task is much appreciated.

Thanks

Would he need stranded MC cable?
