Quick question please....

Does a fixture in a clothes closet have to be a "Fluorescent fixture" with cover or can it be
a regular enclosed luminaire with a cfl?

I believe it would need to have the fluorescent pins as a regular "A" incandescent lamp could be installed in a regular enclosed fixture.

Space in an existing closet with an exposed "A" lamp to a box is tight and needs to be swapped to get through a "compliance" inspection.

Was wondering.
Thank you.

If it accepts an edison base lamp, most inspectors will reject it if not enough clearance for incandescent luminaires.

These are about the best thing I have found for a clothes closet where only a "utility" style is all that is desired.

You must still have 6 inches to the storage space with those.

It can be an incandescent fixture as long as it is completely enclosed type.

See 410.16(A)(1).
