Installation instructions call for a 240 volt GFCI circuit breaker on the feeder wires going to the fused disconnect box. Does anyone know why the manufacturer would want this?

Perhaps it is a heat pump for a swimming pool or spa?

I found out the answer. The GFCI is required for install in Japan. In USA a standard breaker is OK. Apparently they do not usually have grounding in Japan. !
