I was recently told that the ears on devices like receptacles had to remain on them when installing them in cut in boxes in hospital rooms because of the more metal to metal contact even if the receptacles are self grounding.
It has been the practice to remove the ears to make it easier to set the receptacles back a little so the faceplate will be flush against the wall.
Now I'm told one has to use a slightly raised cover for these applications. Is this true?
