Do the modern rechargeable NiMH or lithium batteries have this potential problem?

I use/rotate 15-30 of each size AAA,AA,C,D rechargeables at all times.

i have had nicads leak and cause harm.
I have NEVER had a nimh leak
I have no lithium experience.

What time interval between changes ? What type of equipment are we talking about ?

8 wildlife cameras, 4 with 4 c cell each, 4 w/6ea d cells. change 2 mo or if forget 2 months later dead

about 30pc x10 sensors/devices; aaa & aa - 2 or 4 ea; 6-12mo each

misc flashlights - normally forget recharbables in most over 1 yr

kids christmas toys - find em 1-2 yrs later.

6?8? mice chasers (mole buzzers) in the antique cars. 4 d cells each. try to remember to change every 6mo or so

meters, ham radios, etc. I haven't used non rechar. batts for many many years.

We use lithium batteries and they are fabulous. The life is many, many times longer than any other off the shelf battery. Downside is they are unpredictable in when they are going to die because they measure full voltage up until the minute they stop working. And they're pricey still.

Why would you? I regularly take the batteries out of most of my meters lest I forget. Of course I don't use most of them regularly either.

I wish I could get into a routine of changing the batteries on my go-to meters on a regular basis but I tend to forget. Had a few close calls with those. Stupid batteries.

My 289 came with the batteries installed. It has a processor in it. I'm wondering if it has an internal backup battery that may go dead. I just put some lithiums in.

So if the battery dies you would have to reset the date and time? I would figure things like the calibration would be in permanent memory. Not sure about the logged data but that should not be a big loss once you have finished with it.
